Getting into your portal

Set up your account from the invitation your accountant sent, and get back in later.

3 min readUpdated July 24, 2026

Your accountant uses LedgerOS to work with you — sending you things to sign, asking for documents, and letting you pay invoices. Your portal is where all of that happens.

This guide is for you as a client. You don't need to know anything about accounting software.

Setting up your account

Your accountant sends you an invitation by email. Open it and follow the link.

You'll be asked to Set your passwordat least 8 characters — and confirm it. That's the whole setup. There's nothing to install and no app to download.

If the link doesn't work, it may have expired. Ask your accountant to send it again. They can do that in a few seconds.

Signing in later

Go to the address your accountant gave you and sign in with your Email address and password.

Some firms use their own web address for this, so it may look like your accountant's own site rather than LedgerOS. That's normal.

If you forget your password

Choose the forgotten-password option on the sign-in page. You'll get an email with a link to Set a new password.

If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check your spam folder before asking your accountant.

What you'll find inside

  • Your to-dos — anything waiting on you, in one list
  • Your documents — what you've sent and what's been shared with you
  • Invoices — what you owe and a way to pay
  • Messages — talking to your accountant

Working without an account

Sometimes your accountant will send you a direct link to upload a document or sign something, without needing you to sign in at all.

Those links work on their own and expire after a while. If one has stopped working, ask for a new one.

You only ever see your own information. Other clients of the same firm cannot see anything of yours, and you cannot see theirs.

Notes

  • Your accountant can see what you've uploaded and signed, but not your password.
  • If several people in your household or business need access, each needs their own invitation.
  • Nothing you do in the portal can delete or damage your accountant's records.
