The calendar and layers
Build the calendar view you actually need by turning layers on, then save it as a tab.
The calendar isn't one view. It's four layers you switch on and off, so the same screen can be your own day or the whole firm's week.
Where to find it
Today returns you to the current date. Use Layers to change what's shown.
The four layers
Appointments — meetings and calls, filterable by Staff. On by default.
Compliance — deadlines, filterable by Form and Client. On by default. This is what puts filing dates on the same grid as your meetings, which is the point of having them there at all.
Tasks — work with a due date, shown as all-day chips. Off by default, and filterable by Assignee, Pipeline, Status, Client, and Tag. Turn it on when you're planning a week rather than attending one.
Availability — shading showing when someone is free. Off by default, filterable by Staff.
Each layer has its own filters, so you can show one person's appointments alongside every client's deadlines, or your own availability against the whole firm's tasks.
Day start
Day starts at controls where the grid begins. Set it to when your firm actually starts rather than midnight, so your working day fills the screen.
Saved views
Once you have a useful combination, save it as a view — a named tab you can return to.
Views can be personal or firm-wide. Personal for my week; firm-wide for something the whole practice should be looking at, like a season deadline board.
This is what stops the calendar being a thing you reconfigure every morning.
Availability shading
The availability layer tints the grid where the selected person is free, based on the hours set on their profile.
It's how you answer "when can we get Marcus and the client in the same place" without a round of emails. Availability shading is currently single-staff.
Notes and limits
- Layers are yours until you save them as a firm view.
- The Tasks layer shows tasks with a due date. Undated tasks can't appear on a calendar.
- Compliance deadlines come from your compliance settings, not from tasks.
- Private appointments don't appear on other people's calendars regardless of layers.
