The dashboard and workspace tabs

The dashboard is yours to build, and tabs let you hold several pieces of work open without losing your place in any of them.

The dashboard

Add a widget to build it. Widgets cover work, billing, documents and compliance, communications, activity, and firm utilities.

Widgets are working surfaces

This is the thing worth understanding: widgets aren't charts you look at. Their rows are clickable and their items are actionable.

A widget showing overdue work is a list you work from, not a number you note. That's the difference between a dashboard you check on Monday and one you actually operate from.

Configuring a widget

Most widgets carry settings — Widget settings.

• Pipelines — Pick one or several, each gets its own row. Leaving it empty shows Nothing picked — showing your first pipeline, which is rarely what you want once you have several.
• Rows to show — how much of the list to display.
• Weekly target (hours) — on time widgets.

Widgets showing This widget has no settings yet are fixed for now.

Set pipelines explicitly on any widget offering it. The fallback to your first pipeline is a sensible default and almost never the one you meant.

Building one that works

A dashboard with fourteen widgets is wallpaper. Three or four you genuinely act on beats a complete picture you skim.

The reliable set for most people:

• Work that's overdue or due soon
• Anything unassigned
• Whatever's waiting on you specifically
• One money widget — usually unbilled WIP or receivables

If a widget hasn't caused you to do something in a fortnight, remove it.

Workspace tabs

LedgerOS holds several pages open as tabs, so moving between two clients doesn't mean losing your filters and scroll position in either.

This matters most during review, where you're comparing two jobs, or in season when three clients are all mid-flight.

Your sign-in setting decides whether tabs come back — My default tabs for the same set daily, or The tabs I had open last time to resume exactly where you were.

Notes and limits

• Dashboards are per person.
• Widgets respect permissions — you only see data you have access to.
• Widget data reflects the moment you loaded it.
• Tabs are per user and per device session.
