The client record
A tour of every tab on a client — what lives where and which ones you will actually use daily.
Open any client and you get eleven tabs. Most firms live in three of them. This is what each one holds.
Where to find it
Overview
The landing tab, and a summary of everything else. It's built from cards: details, contacts, tags, custom fields, notes, jobs, health, compliance, messages, and relationships.
Cards are working surfaces, not read-outs — you can add a tag, edit a contact, or open a job without leaving the page. If you only ever use one tab, this is the one.
Tasks
Every task attached to this client, across all jobs. Useful for the "what's outstanding for the Hendersons" question that doesn't respect job boundaries.
Communications
Email and messaging with this client in one thread, so a phone note and an email sit in the same timeline rather than in separate systems.
Activity
The record of what happened and who did it. Where Communications is what you said to the client, Activity is what your firm did — status changes, uploads, edits.
Documents
Files attached to this client. Requests you've sent, things they've uploaded, and anything your team has filed.
Credentials
Stored logins and access details for this client's systems. Gated by its own permission — staff without it don't see the tab.
Research
Tax research saved against this client, so the reasoning behind a position stays attached to the client it concerns rather than living in someone's inbox.
Comp Studies
Reasonable-compensation studies for this client. Also permission-gated.
Portal Access
Who from the client's side can log in, what state their invitation is in, and a preview of what they see. Covered in its own article.
Health
The client health score and the evidence behind it. This is a read-and-interpret tab, not a working one.
Settings
Per-client configuration — the record's own details, and preferences that override firm defaults for this client only.
Notes and limits
- Tabs you lack permission for are hidden entirely, not shown greyed out. Two people can see different tab strips on the same client.
- Tabs are per client. There's no way to reorder or hide them for your own account.
- Deleting a client isn't done from here; that's in the client's Settings tab and is deliberately hard to reach.
