Set up your client portal
Brand the portal and put it on your own address, before you invite anyone to it.
The portal is the part of LedgerOS your clients actually see. Get its appearance and address settled before the first invitation goes out, because changing the address afterwards means every old link stops working.
Where to find it
Branding
Set your Accent color to match your firm's. It carries through the portal your clients see.
Choosing an address
Two options.
A LedgerOS subdomain — free, works immediately, no DNS to configure. Fine for launching, and fine permanently.
Your own domain — something like portal.yourfirm.com. Better, because clients recognise it and it doesn't look like a third-party tool.
Either way it becomes your portal address. Clients land there to upload, sign, and pay.
Setting up your own domain
Choose Set up automatically if your DNS provider is supported. LedgerOS configures the records for you.
Otherwise you'll be given a Host and a Value to add as a DNS record with your provider, and Check DNS verifies it once you have. Propagation is usually minutes but can take longer.
While a domain is pending you'll see Action needed. Once it resolves it shows as Live, with your main address marked Live · primary. Additional domains can be set to redirect to the primary rather than serving separately.
A domain can also be removed, which is a confirmed action.
Changing the address later
Changing your portal address is possible and is deliberately guarded with a confirmation.
The reason for the warning is straightforward: every invitation link, every emailed reference, and every bookmark your clients have saved points at the old address. Some will break.
Check it before you invite anyone
Once branding and address are set, look at the portal preview on any client's Portal Access tab. It shows what a client sees.
The specific thing to check is wording. Anything you've written for internal use reads differently to someone who doesn't know your process. It's much cheaper to catch that in a preview than in a reply asking what you meant.
Notes and limits
- The portal is the same application for every client. Branding is firm-level, not per client.
- A client only ever sees their own record, whatever the address.
- Removing a domain doesn't remove portal access. It changes where the portal lives.
